Moving to Paradise

You may remember my semi dramatic post Escaping Nashville. I now bring you an equally dramatic musing about moving to paradise- that’s exactly what it feels like. Since the day we moved here mid January I’ve been in a pinch me state of mind.

The beach has always been my happy place. Always the one place that truly felt like home. My spirit craves water and the warmth of sunshine on my skin mixed with equal parts coastal breeze.

When Caleb got the opportunity to accept a job in Florida, we took the leap. It was always our end goal, but we assumed we’d be closer to retirement age before making this move. We never dreamed we’d be raising a beach baby. Here we are writing this story of our little family in our favorite part of the world and feeling beyond blessed to embark on this journey.

We’ve moved to three different cities in less than five years. (Yes, we are indeed insane) All jokes aside, we always knew we wanted to leave out hometown in Jackson, Mississippi. Caleb’s career has granted us just that opportunity. Every time a cool place popped up where he could transfer we always thought why the hell not and took a leap. It’s been an amazing (sometimes stressful) adventure.

Our first leap, the gateway ticket out of Mississippi, was Memphis, Tennessee. We moved to downtown Memphis and completely fell in love with the place. One of our biggest regrets in life was leaving Memphis for Nashville, but without the difficult two and a half years in Nashville we may not be where we are now- in paradise.

Since the day we moved here mid January I’ve been in a pinch me state of mind.'

The boys and I have moved to the Pensacola, Florida area! What a dream- one that we aren’t taking for granted and giving so much gratitude to God for allowing us to experience. When I was a child we spent so many spring and summer’s at Pensacola Beach. I have so many great memories from those trips and I can’t wait to created memories with Mayne and Caleb on that same beach.

We’re happy to be back in the slower pace of live that we were used to growing up in Mississippi. It’s a breath of fresh air from the fast pace life in Nashville. We chose a sweet little quiet community that’s only about 30 minutes from Pensacola Beach and 30 minutes from Navarre Beach. Right in the middle of two of the most beautiful coastlines on the Emerald Coast.

Here’s to many many weekends on the water with a glass of vinho verde (or an IPA) and a good book in my hands making memories with my favorite two boys. Cheers!
